Night Photography Class

Taking pictures at night is a tricky thing. I am not sure I really learned anything new in technique, but I did learn a lot about how I think about and set up for different night shots. I’m not sure I really conveyed that correctly, but one thing for sure, I had a lot of fun doing this. Here are some of the better shots.
Random shots of the street










One of the assignments was to take a photo of a person using the flash to highlight the subject but not wash out the background. The first picture is of this couple that graciously volunteered to be the subject (actually on this one itwas with a fill light, not flash) and the other photos are of the instructor.





These 2 pictures are of Bill the instructor waving a light behind the water.
The bulk of the session was just taking pictures of the lights and the water (The black and white one is just me playing in post).












































The water ones are fun! Were those colored lights that always changed or did you use some kind of setting or filter?
