I spent a couple of days just exploring downtown Frankfurt, one of the places I went was the Römerberg, a neat little town square. As always, I am not very good at descriptions, so I will include a link. So here is something I am better at – pictures! https://www.gpsmycity.com/attractions/romerberg-(square)-7128.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%B6mer Oh look, another church, this one I just got outside shots. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreik%C3%B6nigskirche,_Frankfurt Some shots of Frankfurt’s love locks bridge and the Main River. To get around town, you can take the train, tram or bus. The really cool thing is you can buy a day pass and use any … Continue reading Downtown Frankfurt
Of the 3 churches I went though, this was the smallest. It was still quite beautiful though. Impressively it was only church in Frankfurt to survive that only received minor damage in World War 2 from allied bombings. I’m not … Continue reading Frankfurt Cathedral
These are various shots that should have been included in the other posts but got missed because I had so many darn pictures! Continue reading The last Hessenpark post
So with only about 4 more Germany posts left I have decided on the next path for this blog. Essentially its going back to the way I started it and what it’s been since – a photo blog. “Mostly photography, but probably some randomness thrown in”, as it is stated in my description. Mitchell Memorial Forest is about 9.5 miles from my apartment and it was pretty much a whim to head there this morning. This 1,649-acre park offers over eight miles of challenging mountain bike trail, a 1.0-mile Wood Duck nature trail, and the River Hill “catch and release” … Continue reading Mitchell Memorial Forest
In addition to all the buildings, there was a lot of beautiful open space to walk around and explore. Unfortunately as I stated in my first Hessenpark post, I was rushed and it was the end of the day so I had to rush through most of it, I almost didn’t make it back to the entrance before closing. But here are a few of the shots I did manage to get. Continue reading Hessenpark – Outside
Jumping back to Hessenpark to see some of the structures there. These are random, I don’t remember any of the back stories to them as I wasn’t thinking about showing them in a blog almost a year and a half after the trip! I will just include the link to the website if you want to check it out. https://www.hessenpark.de/?id=english Continue reading Hessenpark – The buildings
This is a Lutheran church located in Ulm, State of Baden-Württemberg (Germany). It is currently the tallest church in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulm_Minster Continue reading Ulm Minster
Inside the church there is a model of the church built with Lego’s. It was built for the chuch’s 125 anniversary. I can’t really find to much information on it. Next post will be the real church! The Link below is about as much as I could find. http://godbricks.blogspot.com/2015/06/ulm-minster.html Continue reading Ulm Minster in Legos
Another beautiful city that needed a ton more time to explore. We hit the major point, Ulm Minster, which is another gorgeous church. That will be in another post, though. Fun fact: Albert Einstein was born in Ulm. Continue reading Ulm Germany
